How It Works
A safe, organized volunteer process
Applications are reviewed by recreation staff before any volunteer is assigned to a program or team.
Background Review
All recreation volunteers are subject to an annual background check conducted by the County.
Staff Approval
Recreation staff reviews the application and determines eligibility and placement.
Assignment
Approved volunteers may be assigned to a team, event, facility, or student service opportunity.
Safety comes first.
All volunteers submit to an annual County background check. Additional checks may be required at the Recreation Department Director’s discretion.
Pending cases involving disqualifying offenses
may make an applicant temporarily ineligible.
Volunteers who transport children must have a
valid Florida driver license and required
vehicle insurance.
Approval is not automatic and may be denied
when safety concerns exist.
